So...

How are those multi-billion dollar tax fraud cases coming along?

Oh.

  1. ASB might have been 'A Kiwi Bank' since 1847 but I wonder when they became an Aussie bank.

  2. I suppose that tax evasion might have been the right right thing by their *customers*, so that's not strictly a lie.

  3. That "We've been a KIWI BANK..." one seems a bit desperate.

  4. They should have just gone with 'ASB Bank is great with chicken'.

  5. To be fair, it's unlikely any of the banks or the IRD have released many press releases on this issue - so reporting it would require an actual journalist to spend a certain amount of time on it, plus the cost of the phone calls to verify facts, notepads, dictaphone tapes, lunch etc etc - the costs add up pretty quickly!

It's not like the Herald can afford to just throw money at any old "news" just because any reasonable observer might think it's important.

  7. ASB Bank is the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. It's the same company. Same ASX listing. Not really a KIWI BANK is it?

I have the Reuters app on my desktop here, nothing on this since the 14th. Except for 1 story about ASB settling with IRD , bounced back as a press digest from stuff.

  9. I complained to the Advertising Standards Authority about ASBs' advert.
