"Ryan Sanders, 3, loves to give lion cub Chase, who weighs 18kg, belly rubs."

Christ on a bike. Or am I being too harsh?

  2. I think what d f is trying to say is, life finds a way. To eventually claw your face off.

Today in micro-Vivawatch: Upfront presents cushions with pictures of state houses on them to "bring an ironic edge to your designer couch" ($60-70). Ironic edges sound uncomfortable but maybe that's just me?

Also, beige shoes with wooden soles and velcro straps! Reportedly they "reference the clog trend without screaming 'fashion victim'". Because there's nothing remotely 'fashion victim' about paying $640 for a pair of beige shoes with wooden soles and Velcro straps...

    Ah, Wednesdays.

  3. I was particularly taken by the $465 grey cardy in Viva today.

On the lion cub issue - I imagine there are actually some dogs that size, with comparable power in terms of jaws, teeth etc, who live alongside children quite nicely. That said, I don't think I'd like to try either myself.

  4. Hmm. This is actually a big problem. There's a big difference between domesticated dogs who have literally evolved as human companions, and wild animals.
People see this shit and it makes them think it's OK. Then they get their faces handed to them.

These are extreme examples, but there have been problems here in the UK recently because of the "compare the meerkat" ads, kids all want to get meerkats.
